mid priced hotel in Lucerne

Have a reservation at the Hotel Des Alpes in Lucerne. I was unable to book a waterfront room. Has anyone stayed on the "city-view" side? What other hotels should I look into for mid priced waterfront rooms?
Thanks in advance!

If you'll go to tripadvisor to the Lucerne Hotel section you can see a map of all of the hotels in Lucerne. You can read about each one of them and make an informed decision.

I stayed on the city view side. My room overlooked a (usually) quiet street. It was fine, and the location is very central and convenient. I'd definitely stay there again. But I'm not one for views from the room as much as some others (a friend made me get a mountain view room in Honolulu, and I didn't feel it was worth the extra money, but he VERY much did). If you do want a water view from your room, a street view will not suit you.

cat,

A waterfront room is nice, but you'll have to consider how often you'll actually be in the room enjoying the view. I'm typically out touring all day and into the evening, so being in the room in the evening (when it's dark), doesn't provide much of a view. The cost will probably be higher for waterfront, so that's another consideration.
