Mid-May too early to hike around Berner Oberland?

We have a cruise ending in Basel in May 13, and can spend 5 days in Switzerland. I’d love to go to the Berner Oberland - I’ve always wanted to hike in the Alps - but will it be possible? Thanks for guidance!

In addition to the possibility of mushy snow, some of the lifts may not be open yet, so you'll need to search that.
Perhaps contact the hotels you're considering for the info.
Or - from charming Lucerne you can access Mt Rigi, which I think is a lower elevation, so the trails may be better for hiking in the spring.
There are lots of Swiss experts here, so I'm sure they'll jump in with accurate info.
I love all things Swiss, so I wish you a wonderful trip!

We were in Wengen in mid-May this year. Lower level hikes great but not Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, for example. We had a great time and enjoyed the wild flowers, lots of snow on the peaks. We had great weather, too. You just have to adapt to what is open. Beatenberg was clear, the lakes gorgeous, and you can ride up to Eigergletscher.
