"Merry Swissmas "- a Lifetime movie

I know these movies are cheesy, but it's supposedly set in Wengen- how many movies are? I'm just starting it, and hope there's some good scenery shots, and wanted to share.
I also watch "Christmas in Vienna" every year to see the Xmas markets scenes.
We all have guilty pleasures ....

I don't think it was filmed in Switzerland. I have stayed in Wengen several times and didn't recognize the scenes. I'll be back in Switzerland in two weeks to visit the Christmas markets. Can't wait!!

Hi Pat, I got suckered into recording that one too. 😊 It was filmed in Canada. They tried to trick us though by showing a shot of Lauterbrunnen and the Matterhorn every once in a while. I didn’t know you could see the Matterhorn from Wengen. 😊 I turned the movie off once I realized it wasn’t actually filmed in Wengen.

Carrie, I don't remember all those trees that the movie showed, and it was extra cheesy. Oh, well...
And Barbara, enjoy the Xmas markets. I was there in 2019 and loved the markets, particularly in Bern. (Then went onto the France and Germany markets.) Please report back.
Safe travels!

I have a love/hate relationship with those movies but watch every one of them including the new Lindsey Lohan one.

I noticed for most of the Christmas Prince/Princess type movies they all use that one castle that's in Romania.

Also, I know I will meet my true love when we bump into each other and one of us spills coffee on the other. It's kismet.

Finally, tell me why when there is a failing business, it always is decorated to the hilt. Like perhaps if they didn't spend so much money on Christmas decorations, they could make a profit.

Last week we had our local assembly in Lauterbrunnen (this place is run through direct democracy) and there one of the items on the agenda was the honouring of a local, Stefan Zurcher.

Stefan Zurcher is a professional skier, now in his 70ies, who is know (not very well) for being one of the stuntmen participating in the ski chase in the first Bond movie. That one was of course filmed here, on the Schilthorn.

But he also participated in other films. One is "The Downhill Racer", a 1969 movie with Robert Redford and Gene Hackman, about a US skier doing the championship circuit. A lot of it was filmed in Wengen. I watched it last night, and the scenes taking place on the Lauberhorn Race track were indeed filmed there. I know every turn of that run. They filmed at the Park Hotel and other places in Wengen, but also took some liberties, with some scenes that were supposed to take place in Wengen obviously filmed in Austria. And parking a car in front of the cable car station in Wengen is rather funny if you know the place :-)

and don't forget poor George Lazenby at the Schilthorn
