Hi does anyone know if a US citizen can obtain a Rx for medical cannabis in Switzerland ? As far as medical my husband and I both have our medical license card here in the US. I have cancer and he has ptsd and sleep disorders. We are traveling to Switzerland next month I get a little break from champ and I’m fulfilling a bucket list. We both need it for pain and other ailments etc . I had a call with one company and they denied me with the tele -health, said in Switzerland you must be a resident, but I’ve read tourist can pay and see a Swiss dr and get a rx. Anyone know?
I have no idea, although I tend to doubt it, but what do I know? You might find some information on the website of the Medical Cannabis Association Switzerland.

While a U.S. medical marijuana card has no validity in Switzerland, for certain conditions (such as cancer) you should be able to obtain a prescription for medical marijuana after an office visit to a Swiss doctor. Be prepared to pay out of pocket for the office visit and the prescription. Bring documentation verifying the diagnosis for both yourself and your husband.
www.Medcan.ch has more information
I'd also discuss pain management alternatives with your physicians before you leave, and if offered a different Rx be sure to read the Swiss rules for what can be brought into the country. Keep the meds in original packaging and carry a written copy of the script from your doctor. I hope you can find something that helps so you can tick that bucket list item off. Best of luck.
Personally, I would scope out before your trip (using the above medchan link) the list of doctors who prescribe medical cannabis in Zurich and contact them to confirm they are willing to write a script for you as tourists.
Update:
Just read on the Canna insider website, that tourists cannot access prescriptions for medical cannabis in Switzerland. Apparently scripts are issued within their health system to residents who are receiving ongoing clinical supervision
I would speak to your Oncologist for an alternative analgesia to use on the trip and your husband a script for his issues.
However, apparently, tourists can buy cannabis from shops, although the strength might not be the same.

Tthe highest strength of cannabis you can legally buy in Switzerland has to be less than 1% THC. I doubt that will do any good.
