May Switzerland Trip...jet fuel issue?

Hello,
Our trip of a lifetime is just a week away, 18 days in Switzerland. I've heard about some airlines cancelling flights due to anticipated jet fuel shortages. I've seen nothing about Swiss Air. Does anyone have any info on this issue and if it may impact Swiss Air? Thanks so much.

I think it would be unlikely that they cancel a transatlantic flight. For one thing, there is plenty of fuel at the other end. For another, they are big money makers. If they have to cancel flights due to short fuel supplies, more likely to be short haul flights where passengers have the option of using trains.

They may reduce service to airports where there are already lots of flights. For instance, between Swiss and Air France, there are 8 daily flights from ZRH to CDG. They could each drop one and still get people where they want to go, if not at the most convenient time.

I work for a US major airline and fly to Europe every week. We’ve heard nothing about modifying any service due to the jet fuel prices.

Swiss’ low-cost subsidiary Edelweiss did cancel some services from North America to Zurich for the season-Denver Vegas and Seattle for example.

And I’ve seen some European carriers reduce frequency within Europe, but transatlantic on a US carrier, you’re likely OK.

Thank you so much for your replies. It makes so much sense. You have helped to calm our fears about a potential flight cancellation.
With appreciation,

The jet fuel shortage is in Europe not the US. We are headed over on 7 May. Pretty confident that won’t be an issue It could be an issue when we return on 25 May. If our flight is cancelled I told the wife we will hop a train and go to Germany. I’m retired so we get back when we get back.
