Matterhorn Alpine Crossing - Zermatt to Breuil-Cervinia in Italy

I am dying to do this trans-alpine cable car route from Switzerland to Italy that just opened last month. It looks thrilling, plus is a nice "shortcut" from our stay in Zermatt to our next stop on the coast.

I see tickets are available for our travel dates in Mid-October, after a short closure period. But I am unable to find information on whether there is a luggage allowance for the ride - we will have a total of three carry-on size bags for our group.

Has anyone done this crossing? Is it worth the expense? Was baggage restricted?

I would not rely on this crossing as a segment of your itinerary! The weather at 3,800 metres above sea level is unpredictable and can close down the cable car for a whole day. Not sure how often in happens in October, but it happens a lot in the ski season.
Also, Breuil-Cervinia is a long way to anywhere by public transportation, so I am not sure you would save much time vs. the train via Brig into the Simplon tunnel.
