If it's closed right now, that's because the snow hasn't yet sufficiently melted from the winter... as of last week, parts of the High Tauern Alps in Austria were still getting fresh coatings. The summer hiking season doesn't really start until mid to late June anyway, so it should almost certainly be open by some time next month. July at the absolute latest.

Tom is right, it's probably not opened yet for the summer. If it will still be open in early October depends on the weather so no way to predict.
