Malpansa to Interlaken

Hello,
I'm traveling mid August from MXP to Interlaken and I'm super confused on the transportation. I am getting conflicting information regarding the best way to get from the airport in Milan to the Interlaken area. One website said that a non-regional train ticket must be booked in advance, but many people claim that this is not necessary. I found that there is a bus from terminal 1 (so that I don't have to take the trip to Milan Centrale) to Domodossola and I can then take a Swiss train into the region. This is the first leg of a 30 night journal, the rest of which I'll spend in Italy, going to Bellagio on Lake Como afterwards, I'm hoping that those trains are easier to navigate!

Any information is appreciated!

If you are schedule to fly into Milan and then going to take a train you should not buy a train ticket in advance since you never know if a flight is going to be delayed or worse canceled.

So what make sense to me since I've been to Milan Malpensa airport and to Milan I would take the Malpensa Express Train to Milan Centrale and get off,
Then buy your ticket to Interlaken
This is what August 15 looked liked. You probably should say what day

Thank you! I'm arriving the 13th, scheduled arrival of 14:20. From what I've read, it's about a 50 minute or so ride from the airport to Milan Central. I definitely didn't want to book anything in advance in case my flight is delayed. One site said that going to Milan Central was going out of the way and the bus to the Swiss station was the best route, but I think your route is the most common. Thank you again!

Thanks, Sam! I made a reservation earlier today, but I never had to pre-pay. And with all of the conflicting info, I was't sure. Thanks again!

FYI regarding Italian trains: While the mid-speed and faster trains tickets are only sold for reserved dates, times, and seat assignments, there is no deadline to purchase them and they rarely sell out.

By boarding at Domodossola, you'll be under Swiss rules (seat assignment not necessary) and would also be covered by a Swiss Travel Pass or Half-Fare Card if you have one.
