Making train reservations from Zurich to Nice and a rental car in Nice

We need to make train reservations for Oct 1 or 2 from Zurich to Nice, France. We also need to make a reservation for a rental car in Nice and would appreciate any site someone can recommend. I checked Enterprise at the Nice train station but they are closed on Sunday and appear to close during the week by 6:30 pm. I found on bahn.com a train leaving Zurich around 9:32 am arriving into Nice via Geneva at 7pm. We may have to get a hotel in Nice in order to pick up the car the next day. Is bahn.com the best site for finding travel times and fares? I have four months to do this but I think I'd better do it now.

You might be looking too far ahead for all the trains to show up. There is a route leaving Zurich at 7:09 to Milan arriving at 10:35 and connecting to a Thello train departing at 11:10 and arriving Nice at 16:00. The problem is that Thello only books out 4 months and may not be showing trains beyond September 7. So DB might not be showing it for that reason. Answer, wait four weeks when you are inside the booking window and see if anything has changed.
