Luzern/Zermatt/Wengen itinerary feedbsck

Hey folks!

we have a Swiss trip coming up in about a month. A few of us are doing 1 night in Luzern, 4 nights in Zermatt and 4 nights in Wengen. I would love to hear your thoughts on our basic plans, maybe even favorite hike in those areas that are approx 5-6 miles? What are some cant miss spots in those areas? Any advice or feedback would be really appreciated l.

We’ve visited Zermatt and Grindelwald a few years ago so I have a general idea of how to get around. We plan to get the half fare card, and possibly the regional passes for Berner Oberland and Zermatt.

We’ve are flying to Zurich, landing at 8:15 am on Friday and spending the first night in Luzern. I am not sure what we will do that day other than roam the city.

The next day we take the train to Zermatt for 4 nights, and leave Wednesday. We have a reservation for Chez Vrony on Sunday and will take the cable car up and walk down for our lunch reservation, maybe do the 5 lakes hike.

One day we want to take the train up to the Gornergrat and then hike between the other train stops. We did the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise last time, but this time i want to find a nice hike from one of the cable car stops back to town.

We are then spending the next four nights in Wengen, and flying out if Zurich on Sunday.

In Wengen, I want to take the cable car to Mannlichen and then hike around there to Kleine Scheidegg. One day I also want to do a hike around Grindelwald First, maybe to Bachalpsee. I also want to do a hike around Murren/Gimmelwald, Schilthorn and Lauterbrunnen.

Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

With just 1 night in Luzern and also having to settle in from arrival, I’d just plan on taking it easy and exploring the city. Do a self guided walk through the town (you can find plenty online), walk the Museum wall for high up views over the city and lake and enjoy a meal along the water.

For your 3 days/4 nights in Zermatt you can do the 5 lakes hike, Matterhorn Glacier Trail & Three Lake Trail to Sunegga.

For 3 days/4 nights in Wengen:
1 day - Mannlichen > Kleine Scheidegg > Fallbodensee > Kleine Scheidegg > Wengernalp > train back to Wengen (or hike the whole way)

1 day - Wengen > Lauterbrunnen > walk or bus to Stechelberg > Schilthorn > Birg > Mürren > funicular up to Allmendhubel > Northface hike counterclockwise to Mürren > Walk or cable car to Gimmelwald > cable car to Stechelberg > bus to Lauterbrunnen > train to Wengen

1 day - Wengen > Mannlichen > Grindelwald Terminal > Grindelwald > Grindelwald First > Bachalpsee > First > Grindelwald > Return to Wengen via Mannlichen, Kleine Scheidegg or Zweilutchinen depending on the time

Thank you!

Do you have any experience with the Glacier Trail from Trockener Steg back to Schwarzsee, or hiking back to Zermatt from Gornergrat? Im wondering what segments of these hikes to do.
