We are spending 3 nights in Luzern at the end of September/beginning of October. I need help finding a nice hotel that will be easy to get to the train early our last morning to go to the airport. It would be nice to find something around $300.
Which airport?
I just heard about Hotel Central Luzern, which is right near the train station and that La Bestia Pizza across from it is really good!
Friends with a much bigger budget just stayed at Hotel des Balances and loved it.
I stayed at Hotel des Alpes before the start of the Switzerland tour a couple of years ago and really liked it. Great location right on the riverfront and a short walk from the train station where you can catch the train that takes you to the airport. Good breakfast, helpful staff, and clean, comfortable room.
Can't speak from personal experience (yet) , but Hotel des Alpes is the hotel where our RS Best of Switzerland starts next spring, so that's an endorsement of sorts. The price point is a little higher than you're hoping for, though.
NickB we are flying out of the Zurich airport. I appreciate the votes for Hotel Des Alpes, but they are booked. I could go up to $400 dollars a night. What about the Marriotts in Luzern? And maybe not right by the train station, because we are debating sleeping at the Hilton by the airport our last night. A 10-15 minute walk to the station is ok. Breakfast is not important because we love bakeries!
Another recommendation for Hotel des Alpes. I have stayed there twice and will be staying there again in Sept.
Nevermind on the Marriott, the price is ridiculous.
I have twice stayed at the Ameron Luzern Hotel Flora
It's a five minute walk to the train station and one block from the Chapel Bridge.
I checked back tonight and got a room at the Hotel Des Alpes with a view of the bridge. I'm pretty happy about that, but it was a bit more than I expected to spend. But we are saving a little staying at the airport Hilton the next night. Thanks for the help!
I think you’ll find that the room with the view is worth the splurge. Enjoy!
