Hi,
We (5 in our family) are staying in Lumnezia, Switzerland and want to go to Lake Como for a day trip.
We will have a car but could take the train.
What is the best way to get from Lumnezia to Lugano and then continue to Lake Como?
Thanks for your help.
Joe
www.sbb.ch/en will show you the bus/train routes. Since it is over 4 1/2 hours just to Lugano, not a very practical way to do a day trip.
Viamichelin says it is 3 hours by car to Gravedona on the north shore of Como. Through Thusis, over the Spluegenpass, to Chiavenna, Dubino, to Gravedona.
Lake Maggiore (Locarno & Ascona) will be easier to reach (by car again), about 2.5 hours driving each way still, but without any high passes - whereas the Splügen pass road to Chiavenna is slow and tiresome (while scenic).
