We will be traveling from Zurich to Chur in September. Would like to visit Appenzell between train trips but don't see a way to store our luggage for the day. Have looked at sbb.ch, seat61.com, and stasher.com; it appears there are no lockers at Appenzell station. Would rather not have to drag our luggage behind us for the day (we are seniors) - any suggestions?

Google street view from 2013 shows 12 medium size lockers at the Appenzell bahnoff. They are just outside the door to the ticket office.
I don't recall the lockers being there. But, we have always stayed at hotels in Appenzell that allowed us to store luggage while we hiked in the mountains.

There are plenty of lockers at St. Gallen, which is on the way from Zürich, and really on the most convenient way to Chur despite the apparent backtracking (reduces no. of transfers).
