Lugano to Lake Como for lunch/Olive oil?

Hello! I’ll be in Lugano tomorrow (Saturday) and have a free day. I was thinking of going to Lake Como for lunch since Italy is so close - and particularly want to get some olive oil tins to take home (been dreaming about it since my last trip to Italy 8 years ago). My guide told us Italy doesn’t export the really good olive oil so was thinking of taking a quick trip to Italy but I have to be back by 4:45 pm.

Was planning to take the train to Como S. Giovanni. Is that doable or is there somewhere closer I should consider? Is the “good stuff” available at a grocery store or am I better off going to a specialty store? Thanks!

Como isn't olive oil country. I would expect the stores there to have pretty much the same stuff as a store in Lugano would. Ask your hotel concierge for a speciality store in Lugano. A quick google already turned up several...

But lunch in Como certainly sounds nice.
