Hi - we are planning to drive from Lugano to Interlaken. I know we can drive route 2 to route 8 via the Gothard tunnel. Has anyone ever tried the short cut across route 11?

I have extensive knowledge of the routes around the area. The Stutenpass route is an extremely beautiful road, it traverses the mountains with a road pass summit 2.300m high. The road is opened from late May till late October, usually (this varies a bit according to how much it snowed during the winter).

Thanks. Any idea if it takes longer than going all the way up on Road 2 and back down on 8? We have to be in interllaken by a certain time, so I'm trying to see if we can squeeze it in. Thank you for you help!

Hope you're not actually staying IN interlaken...you're "almost" to the spectacular beauty of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and surrounding alpine villages. But just "almost".

I was by that way a couple of days ago and most of the passes are closed. Sustenpass certainly was.
