We have 5 days in an AIRBNB in Lugano after an RS tour end of October, flying into Milan MXP & train up. Any suggested train and/or car day trips from there? (I would like to make a good weather/bad weather list since it's late in the season.)
We will fly home from Zurich, taking the train from Lugano with one overnight there, any recommendations for reasonable hotels walking distance to the airport, ZRH, would be great. Thank you!

Boat ride to Morcote.
Day trip to Bellinzona and explore the fortresses.
Stay in Luzern last night instead of Zurich. You can get to the airport on a 1 hr direct train.

You will love Lugano, I was just there on the RS Best of Switzerland tour.
Definitely go to Bellinzona, walk around the lake and take the funicular to Mont. Bre and the other one, it escapes me at the moment. There’s a Saturday market in the town that’s full of local color. If you like art, there’s a wonderful Lugano Arts Center, great air conditioning. A special exhibit of Swiss artist Hodler and his contemporary, Franzoni. Very nice, also with English signage.
We stayed at the Hilton at the ZRH airport for our morning flight home. I’m too risk averse to take a train on the morning of my flight home.
