Lucerne transportation

Our family will be arriving in Lucerne at 12:05 from Basil (by way of train). We have a full day of activities planned before we leave the next day. Our plan is to store our luggage at the train station so that we can go directly to Kriens to begin our adventure up to Mt. Pilatus. Does anyone know if the bus stop to Kriens is within walking distance from the train station? If so, where can I go to obtain walking directions? I have tried citymapper and a few other sites, but no luck. Thank you for any help you can give me with this issue.

It's right at the train station...Rick's Switzerland book has all the info...I'll be doing
the same trip July 8 after we leave Lauterbrunnen.

Actually, in person it's much easier than it reads, as it's all in a small area.
You will LOVE being at the top of that peak!
Safe travels!

The bus station (where all the city buses stop) is right in front of Luzern rail station.
Click here for a 360° view of the front of Luzern station. Pan 90° right and you can see the buses.
BTW, the boats stop there as well, through the arch.

Click here for a station plan. On Page 3 it lists all the buses leaving from the station.
If you look on page 1, left luggage (icon of a case) is shown on level 1, in the "SBB Reisezentrum" (Travel Centre).

Thank you SOO much. This will make it very easy. Now all we have to do is hope that we can find an available big locker to store 5 pieces of luggage while we begin our Mr. Pilatus adventure.

lindah,

When you arrive in Kriens, you'll have a short uphill walk to reach the cable car station. The first segment will be via smaller "telecabines" (four person, as I recall) and the next segment to the top will be via larger cable cars.

Are you continuing down the other side via the Funicular to Alpnachstad (it's a spectacular ride!)? From there you can travel back to Lucerne by boat, which is a very enjoyable trip.

Thank you, Ken, for this information. The more we know what to expect with this awesome adventure, the better. There will be 5 of us (my daughter and 3 grandchildren), so a cable car (telecabine) that fits 4 people will be a bit of a problem...We would love to continue back down from the summit via the Funicular to Alpnachstad, but there might not be enough time to do that. Our train from Basil arrives at 12:05, and, although we plan on catching the bus to Kriens right away, I'm not sure how long the lines might be. My grandchildren will be riding the toboggan before going to the summit, & I was told that the last cable car leaves the summit at 5:30. I think it will all depend on how long the lines will be for the cable car rides, as well as the toboggan ride. Again, thank you so so much.
