Lucerne to Lindt Factory on way to Zurich?

My teenagers want to stop at the Lindt factory. We are traveling from Lucerne to Zurich. I know that the Lindt factory is south of Zurich, so does it make sense to stop on our way from Lucerne - but we will have our luggage (each of us 1 carry on bag). Is there luggage storage at that train station? Or at the Lindt factory? Or easier/longer to take train directly from Lucerne to Zurich, check into hotel, and then hop on another train to factory? Thanks! (also any tips/suggestion on touring the factory are appreciated. do I really need to purchase tickets ahead of time?)

I could be wrong about this but I think it's a metro train you take to get to the Lindt factory. You'd be better off going to the main station in Zurich and then you cross the street to get to the metro line that takes you to Lindt. Definitely luggage storage at Zurich.

You need a timed ticket for Lindt and they do sell out and were very strict about not showing up early.

They had lockers for our backpacks, I don’t remember them being very large, though. If your hotel is in the Old town, imo, I would go there first, drop off your luggage, walk down to the lake and take the bus. It was only a few miles to the factory. We hopped on the boat to come back to Zurich. It was a fun place if you like chocolate, they loaded us down with all the different varieties of the Lindt balls.

based on your other post I see that you will have been in Luzern.

Is it just the Lindt experience and the airport in Zürich, or do you have more in mind?

Many stay the last night in Luzern - in my opinion you can NEVER have too much Luzern - because it is only just over an hour to the airport station right in the airport. That way you save a day of relocation, one less hotel change.

Thank you! Love the idea of taking the boat back to town after factory tour. It is our last night of our trip . . . we fly out early the next morning. Or maybe per the suggestion we should just stay in Lucerne one more night and then go directly to airport . . . need to look at that option. Thanks!
