Hello! Would like advice on where to stay while 2 days in Lucerne July 2022. Looking for a boutique-type hotel with a great location. There will be 2 families, each with a 15-year-old girl. Thank you!
Hotel Balances on the river right beside the historic bridge is a great location and view…..eaten a wonderful meal on their balcony overlooking the river and plan to stay there in September.
In 2014 I had a great stay at the Hotel des Alpes (found in Rick's book). Note that the hotel website did not have the room I needed, but by emailing them directly, I was able to get the room. I then had the exact same experience at another Swiss hotel. So, if you don't see what you want or need online, be sure to email them to ask directly about availability, prices, etc.
Another vote for Hotel des Alpes. I stayed here just prior to and as part of the Rick Steves Best of Switzerland Tour in 2019. It is just across the river from the train station (less than 5 minute walk)and right next to the Chapel Bridge. The view out of my window was amazing. The bus stop to begin the “golden ticket” route for Mt Pilatus was about 200 feet away and lake steamer I returned on was next to the train station. Major sites all within walking distance.
