My husband and I will be in Lucerne on September 24-26th, 2018. We had booked Hotel Schlussel in Old Towne, but was just informed they had a fire and had to cancel our reservation. They will be closed until the end of 2018. Can you tell me another hotel in this area similar to Hotel Schlussel? Our room rate was $181/night US, and I'm looking on line now and hotels are much higher. I booked this 6 months ago. ugh Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Louise Bradner

At this point, you may have to take what you can get. Have a look at THIS HOTEL, which is in a nice quiet area and an easy walk to the river and the train station. As I recall the rooms don't have A/C, but that probably won't be a concern at the end of September. This hotel should be in your price range (depending on the exchange rate at the time).

Thank you! That looks very nice and they have availability. I'm looking at this and The Tourist Hotel w/ balcony overlooking Mt Pilatus/river. Which one would you recommend? They both look to be affordable- about the same price. Thanks!!

The Tourist Hotel is a nice place - but if you're training in/out it's a bit of a distance from the station. Just keep that in mind.
Sorry to hear about the Hotel Schlussel. We stayed there in December for my daughter's wedding at the neighboring Jesuit Church. We really liked the little hotel and employees.
