Lucerne Hotels

Anyone have suggestions on where to stay in Lucerne? Hotels seem to be filling up fast for the dates we want in June so we have limited options so would appreciate any ideas. If we stay a bit outside Lucerne is there public transport to get to town?

Thanks!

Try the Hotel des Alpes. We stayed there about 6 weeks ago; very clean with a helpful staff. Between the trains and buses the public transportation system is excellent.

We will be staying at the Ameron Hotel Flora in July. It’s in the old town and has ac which is one reason I chose it.

We enjoyed our stay at the Waldstaetterhoff located a short block from the train station and very walkable to the bridge and old town.

The Monopole is even closer to the train station and gets good reviews.

For attractions a bit farther than walking, the hotel gave us a free Visitors Card.

The Visitor Card is available to you during your stay in the
Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region. Your hotel will be pleased to issue you
with the necessary documentation and links.

The Visitor Card gives you free use of buses and trains within zone 10
of the city network, as well as a range of discounts for cableways,
mountain railways, museums and excursions in the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne
Region. You can also take advantage of ‘Free WiFi – LUZERN.COM’
hotspots dotted around the city.

We stayed in hotel Monopol. Ideal location. Close to train station, lake and the point of boats departure, old town in short walking distance. It's usually little expensive but we got some discounts.

I usually stay at Hotel Stern in Lucerne - https://www.sternluzern.ch/en . It's in a very convenient location, and only about a 10 minute walk to the river or the station. The rooms are clean and comfortable. As I recall, they don't have A/C but they will provide a fan on request and that's been fine for me.

I also enjoyed my stay in the Hotel Stern, possibly in the same single room that Ken has used, since we both tend to travel solo. It was exactly as pictured online. Tidy, modern bathroom. Nice breakfast and staff. (Actually, those notes would describe all 6 hotels where I happened to stay on my last visit to Switzerland.)
