Hi everyone, I am trying to work out an itinerary from the 17th to 23rd December. It is for my 14 year old daughter myself ( her middle aged mother) We are not planning on any hikes, my daughter would like one day of skiing on beginner slope. Mainly we want to see Switzerland and enjoy our trip without feeling rushed.
I was considering:
15th 16th Zurich
17th to 20th in Lucerne
20th train to Grindewald
21st train to Zermatt 23rd Train to Milan. Happy to go anywhere else in Italy.
However, Grindewald is mighty expensive to stay in and we are on a low budget.
It feels too rushed, it will be very wintry and may not be necessary to all these places.
We thought of catching the train to Milan on the 23rd December so we were there for Christmas. Our plan was to go to Christmas markets, buy yummy food and have a Christmas day picnic after going to midnight mass. Are there any other suggestions for Christmas day? we see this as a rest day as well.
We are open to all other ideas, or other places to go. I am feeling overwhelmed at the moment with the planning and am wondering if this itinerary is reasonable at all, or if we should strike out for different places.
An addendum - planning has been left this late as my mother was very ill and we thought we would have to forfeit our tickets to look after mum. The total trip is 7 weeks - Paris, Switzerland, Italy, Barcelona, London for a few days to show my daughter, then a few days with family and home. to New Zealand.
