Lucerne as base April 13-17th

Hi All,
Our trip starts with 10 days in Italy. Talking Bernina then going to Lucerne for 4 nights. I’ve spent so much time planning Italy, I have nothing booked but hotel in Lucerne. This is this coming April and I’m stressed on time now. I’ll take any ideas as well as what to pack that would be different from Italy. Would also love advice on whether any kind of half fare, etc card is worth it.

Thanks, Debbie

A lot of Italy can still have cool evenings in April, but it may make a difference where you will be, so you should add that. What are your plans for Lucerne--any mountain trips? If some of your clothing from Italy can be layered it will help, but we need to know your plans there, too--if just going to cities for example, then your packing needs may not differ much.

Even much further south in Italy I have found evenings cool in late May, so I think the main thing is it determine if what you take for Italy will serve your needs in Switzerland. You'll need at least a substantial jacket for mountain trips.

Thank you. That helps. I mean it doesn’t help my “packing light” concept as much, but it helps. I’ve got good thin down layering options though.

A Costco 32 Degrees packable "down" jacket can serve you well at the summits, yet takes up very little room.
Have a great time!
