Lucerne Hotel or B&B - Central Area - with Kids

Hello all, my family will be in Switzerland June 2020. Our last base will be in Lucerne, as we will fly out of Zurich around 11:30 a.m. Our family includes our 2 year old and 4 year old. I am having trouble finding affordable hotels in the center of the City. Because we will be relying on trains, I prefer to stay close to the train station (walking distance).

We prefer a place with two beds and breakfast included that is under $250 / night. Is there such a place? Hotel or B&B would be fine as long as the location is central. I also would want to make sure the place has good ratings on TripAdvisor.

I stayed at the Hotel Des Alpes, which is very near the Kapellbrücke and is showing at $242 in June (random weekday) with 2 beds and breakfast. Though taxes will put it over your $250 cap.

I’ve stayed at Hotel des Alpes and it’s location is fabulous. That said, you should be able to find a less expensive hotel within a few blocks.

You note that you are looking for a place with "two beds". Two beds in Europe are commonly two what we Americans would think of as "twins". Hotels would often push two of these single beds together to form what we call a double (or Queen). You may need a "triple" or double with sofa bed suite.

Yes, we would definitely need a room to accommodate all four of our family members. I will keep that in mind when searching for room types.

Do you recommend any other place to stay just outside of Lucerne (not too far from Zurich Airport) that would also serve as base and near a train station? We are open to staying in other places.

We just booked a room at The Bed and Breakfast in Luzern. The rates is reasonable and is close to the station. reviews look good. Happy Hunting
