Lucern Interlaken Train

Has anyone ridden the scenic train between Lucern and Interlaken lately. It looks like their is some construction and you have to ride a bus for part of the journey. Is the bus ride still scenic?

The engineering work is scheduled until April 3. The replacement bus shows it stopping at the same towns along the Brienzersee as the train, since it is a critical transport link for residents. So it should run along the road which is parallel to the train tracks. Same scenery.

I have been on this bus going from Interlaken toward Lucern. It was a very comfortable double decker. The road along the lake of Brienz is lower than the train tracks and right beside the lake, so the views are great. The only part that I thought was not so scenic was going up to the Brünig Pass (for you it will be coming down from there).

The bus I was on did not go all the way to Meiringen and I find the train section from Meiringen to the Brünig very scenic - the road not so much. This is only a short bit though, and will not detract much from the overall journey. If you really wanted to you could transfer in Meiringen, but those connection times will be longer at the moment.

I see that your trip is coming up soon. Yesterday was a stunning day, the mountains looked beautiful. I hope that you get some of that great weather while you are here!

Thanks so much. I’m very excited about the trip and hope the weather is good.
I assume that the saver day pass that I have for that day will work on the bus and train between the two cities.

That would be a safe assumption. First, it is a train-replacement bus which operates in lieu of the train, which cannot run because the tracks are being worked on. Second, the Saver Day Pass is also valid for Post Buses, as well as urban transport, and cable cars to locations shown on the G.A. validity map.
