Looking for some advice please

Hello, My husband and I will be in Switzerland for 7 nights in Sept. We have decided so far;

1st night Zurich arriving from Australia at 1.30pm
2nd night Zurich Booking a trip to Heidiland for the day ???( read Heidi a million times as a child)
3rd night Murren
4th night Murren
5th night Appenzell
6th night Appenzell
7th night Zurich for morning flight to UK

We will be using trains so I was wondering what the best option is eg Swiss half fare ??
I have looked at the SBB site etc but find it a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance...Karen

Karen,
Skip Zürich. If you are landing at 13:30 take a train direct from the airport to wherever you call "Heidiland".
Then after your 2 nights, direct from there to the next place.
But, look at a map, to avoid doubling back go Graubünden to Appenzell to Mürren.

There are 3 options for your rail tickets:
1. Pay full fare for each trip.
2. Buy a Half Fare card and pay half fare for each trip.
3. Buy a Swiss Rail pass.
You will have to do the arithmetic yourself to work out which is best. Don't forget to add in day excursions including trips up mountains.

Not sure why you find the SBB site confusing. Just put in A to B and a date and a time. The "headline" fare will be the fare with a ½price card. If you then expand it, it will show you all the fare options.
What exactly is confusing you?

I saw road signs for "Heidiland" in the upper Rhine Valley, Maienfeld basically. Easy 1 1/2 hours from Zurich airport. You'll be there at check-in time on your arrival day.
