Looking for restaurant recommendations in Mürren

To preface my suggestions, I wouldn't go into Switzerland expecting epic food. The quality to price ratio is a bit lacking in my opinion and often I find that getting a picnic from the Coop (grocery) for wine/beer, bread, fruit, chocolate, pre-prepared salads/sandwiches/rotisserie chicken, etc. + cheese & dried meats from the local farmers and going to a spot with an epic view brings about a higher quality experience. That being said, if you really want to go to a restaurant, this is a run down of the options:

Eiger Guesthouse - new outdoor patio over the train station, the service is decent, as is the food

Hotel Alpenblick - lovely owners with warm, friendly service + local ingredients

Hotel Regina - they also have an outdoor patio with a good view and some of the food in decent

Murren Palace - fanciest option, large wine list, new outdoor patio has nice views and ambiance

Hotel Eiger - international menu with decent quality

Alti Metzg, Stager Stubli & Time Out Bistro - these are the three restaurants the locals frequent most often - personally I don't eat at Stager Stubli, as I find the service there very rude and Alti Metzg gets overcrowded as it's right by day trippers favorite selfie spot. I guess if you like to people watch, it's a great option. Time Out Bistro is a chill spot on the back road (attached to the Sportzentrum/tourist office)

InSport Coffee - best coffee option in town and the "toasties" sandwiches are good

Hotel Alpina & Hotel Edelweiss - average

Cafe Liv - decent if you want vegan options, overcrowded for my preference

Hotel Blumental & Hotel Alpenruh - unremarkable, owned by the Schilthorn

Tham's Chinese - decent Chinese food, cash only

Hotel Jungfrau - personally wouldn't eat here for multiple reasons

Allmendhubel restaurant - average, intense atmosphere if you don't have kids as the playground is right there

Piz Gloria revolving restaurant - rip off

Suppenalp - mountain hut, good food (have to hike to it)

Pension Gimmelwald - average

Mountain Hostel Gimmelwald - used to recommend their wood fired pizza, not anymore - the quality has gone way down hill

This is a great summary! We also relied on Coop quite a bit along with our hotel breakfast.

I'll only add that for a splurge, Murren Palace has a unique and quite special private dining experience. It's a customizable tasting menu on a private terrace.

I'm in an expensive food city and still found dining in Murren to be quite a bit higher than what I am accustomed to, however this was in the ballpark of what I would expect for a nice tasting menu at home without the amazing view.
