Looking for recommendations regarding choosing a Self Guided Hiking Company for hiking the Alps

Hello,

My wife and I are considering doing a self-guided hike in the Alps next year (probably early August 2017). I am in my later 60's and my wife later 50's but are active and do a lot of hiking along Lake Superior in Minnesota. We were thinking about an inn-inn type experience but have never done that before nor do we have any experience with choosing a company that would arrange our lodging, luggage transfers, etc. We are thinking of about a 7-day adventure plus a few days before to acclimate, I would appreciate and help from fellow traveler's that have done this and your thoughts regarding reliable and trustworthy companies, where to hike, tips, etc. Also any tips on which train trips you recommend to take while there.

Thanks you so much. MarkW

Some family members used Ryder-Walker for a self-guided hiking vacation several years ago. The company moved their luggage and did all the arrangements for the hotels. There was one day they opted out of the hike due to rain and just took a train to the next town. They did the one that started in Scuol and ended in Soglio, adding extra nights in the first and last town. They were pleased and felt the maps they were provided with were mostly accurate, encountering map issues on only one day.

Thank you for your replies,

I have read about Ryder/Walker and Mac's Adventures and will keep both in mind.

Thanks again.
