Looking for Itinerary Feedback June trip

Hi all!

I'm so excited to be spending 5 nights in Switzerland. Please take a look at my itinerary and let me know if you have any thoughts!
I want to make sure we are being reasonable with how much we can do in a day. Also interested in avoiding some of the biggest crowds. I'm looking for suggestions on easy hikes in Murren, Wengen, or Lauterbrunnen.

We are locked into staying in Bern Weds-Mon but have opted to do an overnight in Murren Fri-Sat in order to maximize our time in the mountains.

Weds: 10:30am land in Zurich - take train to Bern - check into Hotel Savoy Bern - tour of Bern and dinner at Restaurant Rosegarten

Thursday: taking it easy bc of jet lag - was considering a visit to a nearby village - either Thun/Interlaken/Harderbahn or Murten. Any other suggestions welcome!

Friday: tran from Bern to Lauterbrunnen - stay at Hotel Alpenruh in Murren - Schilthorn and Birg Cliff Walk
Saturday: Murren to Gimmelwald hike - Wengen - Mannlichen, then back to Bern in evening
Sunday: Lucerne
Monday: leaving for Milan at 11am

We will also be spending about 18 hours in Geneva before our flight home. Any suggestions on must-do's there are also welcome!

TIA!
Kate

So you have 2 nights in Bern (Wednesday and Thursday), then 1 night (Friday) in Mürren at the Alpenruh, then back to Bern for Saturday night before traveling to Luzern for Sunday night?

I will suggest you head straight to Luzern on Saturday and spend 2 nights there rather than going back to Bern and having 2 one-night stays.

Is your train to Milan on Mondaynthe Treno Gottardo by any chance? The timing sounds about right (it departs Luzern at 11:18).

Apologies for the confusion about where we are staying… I updated the post to be more clear.

I think you’re changing locations too much in this short amount of time, no reason to go to Bern twice. You’re going to spend a valuable amount of time packing up, checking in, checking out, etc. You're also not giving yourself any buffer for unpredictable mountain weather. Just because you WANT to do something on a certain day, doesn't mean the weather is going to allow it. Having an extra buffer day can mean the difference between getting to do something you really want to do and not being able to do it at all. If it were me personally, I'd pick narrow down to either Bern & Murren or Murren & Luzern, but if you want to do all 3, recommend the following:

Wed: Land, train to Bern, check in, tour city, dinner
Thursday: Leisurely morning, travel to Murren mid day, check in, explore Murren
Friday: Walk from Murren to Gimmelwald, then take cable up to Schilthorn, Birg Thrill Walk, back to Murren - if you still have extra time, go up to Allmendhubel and you can do some additional hiking/walking around up there
Saturday: Murren > Wengen, Mannlichen, Panorama Hike from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg > Lauerbrunnen (option to walk around a bit and/or e-bike the valley or just go back up to Murren)
Sunday: Murren to Luzern, afternoon in Luzern
Monday: Train to Milan from Luzern

If you want to narrow down, to give yourself some more time to really enjoy the places you're going, as well as some buffer for weather in the mountains, do this:

Sunday: Buffer day in Murren for weather. If you've had perfect weather, there are PLENTY of options to add on to this day. North Face hike, boat cruise on Lake Brienz or Lake Thun (stop at castles along the way), Grindlewald, I could list dozens of options....
Monday: Train Murren to Milan
