We will be spending one night in Lucerne, arriving from Salzburg and continuing on to Murren. We would like to find a hotel near the train station for under $400/night that has air conditioning. We don't need luxury. Just a clean place to spend the night and wander around close by before leaving in the morning. So far the two I've come up with are Hotel Beau Sejour and Hotel Continental Park. Any thoughts on either of those? Or are there others in that price range that you can recommend?
Thanks so much!
Laurie
I have stayed at the Ameron Luzern Hotel Flora twice.
It's litarally a five minute walk to the train station. It's also one block from the Chapel Bridge.
Unfortunately, in September it's out of my price range. Their least expensive double room (with cancellation) is $517. Switzerland certainly is expensive!
What about the RS favorite, Hotel des Alpes? We have loved staying here, in a room with a view of the Chapel Bridge. I'm not sure about the AC, tho, as we have never been there when AC was needed. Enjoy this beautiful city.
Thanks. That's better, but still $417. Prices seem to jump when selecting the cancellable rate.

That is true. But if you have to cancel at the last minute like my wife and I have had to do on our last trip then it is definitely worth it.
Next the Hotel des Alpes is the Hotel Pickwick. Check the price there.
So sorry you had to cancel your trip, Ed! I hope you got to reschedule.
No AC at the Hotel Pickwick. September can still be warm. But thanks for the recommendation.
Laurie:
We have stayed at the Hotel des Alpes which has good service, food and location. If you are in Lucerne for only one night, I would recommend that you stay at the Hotel Continental Park for the location. It is close to the train station, there are some pretty good restaurants in that area and getting to the older part of Lucerne is pretty easy. As for the hotel I would look at Tripadvisor and see what they have to say.
