Looking for best place for hotel when visiting Vevey, Gruyeres, Montreux, Gstaad

We are traveling by train and have three nights to see the places above. I am looking for a suggestion on where to stay. Also, if you have any "don't miss seeing this" place we should consider, let me know your ideas. Thanks.

On the way to Gruyeres there is Callier Chocolate Factory (Broc) which is better than going to Gruyeres. The chocolate tour is nice but the chocolates are to die for after the tour, no charge for the chocolates, minimal tour charge. Also outside of Montreux there is Castle Chillion (sp) which is fantastic. We've always stayed in Montreux because of its central location. Also, taking a boat ride on Lake Geneva is wonderful and relaxing and views from the Lake are picture perfect. We love St. Bernards so always go to the St. Bernard museum in Martigny and up to St. Bernard Pass where you can walk over to Italy just to say you did or have an expresso there. Favorite part of the world!!

Montreux is the transportation hub for all those destinations. www.hotel-splendid.ch is Rick's primary hotel rec there. For a scenic train ride, you could go past Gstaad on the Golden Pass line, e.g., 2 hours from Montreux to Zweisimmen and another hour to Spiez. You could return from Spiez to Montreux via Visp (2 hours) to see different scenery.
