Looking at 15 day forecast, shows rain most days so far in June. Question about that.

Does it typically rain, then clear part of the day, or does it sock in all day long, leaving no visibility? Just generally speaking.

Little forecast icons are always deceivingly pessimistic. There could be a small likelihood of rain in one portion of the day, and the Ivón will be the rain.

I like weather underground, which gives hour-by-hour breakdowns of forecast temps, winds, and precipitation—by probability and forecast quantity.

We use the Dark Sky app for hourly forecasts. It will show a raindrop for the day with a percentage likelihood, but then clicking on the day will give the hourly amount of rain, etc. Living in Seattle for 30 years, this was really helpful!

Be ready when you are there to take advantage of sunbreaks and also have some plans for times during the day when the mountains aren’t visible.

a 15 day forecast can't be more than a guess, and in the mountains a 24 hour forecast is unlikely to be completely accurate. Check the night before, on a local system for a good idea and check the tv channels which show summits before ascending. The desk can tell you which channels (several) will be best for where you are.

Each of the three times I've gone to Switzerland the long-term forecast was rain 100% for everyday. In actuality, I've experienced very little rain, maybe rain in the evenings and overnight. However, once I was on the ground, the forecasts seemed accurate for two days out. Of course, one can have clouds all day that cover the summits, without it raining. However, I've found that even cloudy days in Switzerland are beautiful in their own way, and one can still enjoy the hiking.
Safe travels!

Having lived in the mountains, a forecast of rain is not uncommon at all. It doesn't mean necessarily it will rain all day, but perhaps at some point in the day, a shower or short-term event will occur. Low clouds can ruin a view, and those can linger. Check the forecasts the day of to see what you are dealing with. If you are planning mountain excursions, it could impact your view. The weather changes constantly at high altitudes so it might not be a total wash. We have visited Lauterbrunnen with a 80% chance of rain and when we got there it was perfectly fine.

I saw a similar forecast for the end of May. I also see those cloudy/rain icons every day on my weather app. In 14 days I have had one that was completely rainy, and even then it was beautiful. A few showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon seem to trigger the rain icon. Those are no big deal at all. Don’t worry!

Thanks all for the replies. About what I suspected, but good to get confirmation and some app advice!
