The "wisdom" of the Interwebs seems to be all over the place when it comes to where to stay if we're only going to be in St Moritz for one night before leaving the next morning on the GE.
Any advice/ideas?

This begs the question, how are you arriving in St Moritz? There is no law that says you have to stay there. There are nearby towns where you can get the Glacier Express, like Samedan. You can also get to Samedan quicky from nearby Pontresina.

@Sam: We will be coming from Lichtenstein
We figure this is the only time we'll be able to take the GE as a family before everyone heads off to college, so we guessed taking the full GE route would be ideal, but perhaps not?
But, as I look at a map, are you suggesting staying in Samedan and then taking a quick trip to St Moritz in the morning to catch the train? The schedule I see doesn't list Samedan as a stop for the GE.

No, the Glacier Express stops at Samedan shortly after leaving St Moritz. Actually, the St Moritz Airport is located in Samedan. You will not miss anything boarding at Samedan as it is only 8 minutes after the departure from St Moritz.
There are several routes to get to St Moritz (or Samedan) from Liechtenstein. Have you thought about that?
