Lodging near Chur on a budget

When are you going? Why do you choose to stay in Chur? What do you plan to do with your time while staying there? Will you be riding the train to other locations?

If you do want to stay IN Chur, I suggest a small hotel in the oldtown area, within walking distance to the train station. The most budget-friendly hotel I see is the Drei Könige, with double rooms with ensuite bath and breakfast for 180 CHF. They also offer rooms with shared bath for considerably less.

We've no definite desire to stay in Chur, that's merely our stop after taking the Bernini Express into Switzerland from Italy in late June. Actually trying to figure out an intinerary for several days in Switzerland. We have 4 days to spend in country and want to spend it as wisely and simply as possible. I hear good things about the train system in Switzerland so we are considering that as a way to spend the time-training throughout the country. A several day loop (combined with lodging or sleeper cars-is there such a thing?) or a combination of day trips based out of Zurich. Thoughts?

Are you arriving in the evening? Might as well stay the night in Chur, especially if you started out the day from somewhere other than Tirano. I would suggest going the next day to Luzern for the remainder of you time. Lots to see and do there, including mountain top journeys and lake cruises. You can get to Zurich airport in just over an hour from Luzern.

What is your budget for accommodations? The term "extremely expensive" means very different things to people. It would be helpful for giving suggestions if you would be a bit more explicit.

I think there is an Ibis Hotel in Chur. Double check. Ibis is a budget chain.
