Lodging in Grindelwald

We will be spending 3 nights in the Berner-Oberland region at the end of May. I am leaning to Grindelwald over Lauterbrunnen. We like a little bit of night life (bars, restaurant options). Any favorite hotels? Thanks!

Grindelwald is where the tour buses roll in...if you’re looking for company you won’t have to look far.

Are you looking for a budget option or something more upscale? For a budget place with a family we thought a 2- bedroom apartment at Hotel Residence was fine. It was large and had a balcony, breakfast included.

For a nice place for two of us, with great views, I would choose Hotel Bodmi.

We are open to either budget or more upscale. Would prefer a great view and a good breakfast in the center of town. Thanks!

Hotel Bodmi is above town and has a wonderful view, but it is not in the center. It is a 10- minute walk downhill to the center ( and 10 minutes uphill coming back).

Of the hotels in the central pedestrian zone, I would choose Hotel Spinne for views. I don't know about breakfast, but we have dined there several times and it was good.

A Swiss Hotel breakfast is generally an assortment of breads and croissants, cheeses and cold meats, fruit, yogurt, muesli, and maybe boiled eggs. It is all pretty standard, although some places will, distinguish themselves with the quality of their ingredients ( like the homemade butter at Hotel Bären in Wengen).
