location of Zurich Airport train station

Can someone share with me how one gets to the Zurich airport train station once we land- where it is located, and is there a map -
is it in the actual airport grounds?

It's across the street from the main terminal, in a multi-floor shopping mall complex(called "airport center"). After you clear baggage claim/customs simply follow the signs and the crowds for the train station ... can't miss it.

It is actually across the street in a building that is both a shopping mall, parking structure with the train station in the basement. There is a pedestrian bridge to it from the 2nd level of the airport as well as crossings at street level. Large escalators in the center atrium, then escalators down to track level marked "Gleis 1-2" and "Gleis 3-4". Full service with ticket windows, travel office, ticket kiosks on the lower atrium level. Also clearly marked inside the airport with signs with the train icon pointing directions.

Thanks - we will be arriving at Terminal E - will we have to take a tram from this gate to a main area first?

Yes, similar to many US airports, like Atlanta, Denver. While riding the tram, listen for the sounds of mooing cows, cow bells, and yodeling.

tram - the automated people mover within the hotel. It's not a tram that drives around on the streets. It really couldn't be simpler to get to the train station. Just follow the signs. You'll be fine.

The station is underneath the terminal. As soon as you come through customs, look for signs "Bahn/Railway". Couldn't be simpler. When you get to the level above the platforms, there are ticket machines, but also a manned ticket counter. The ticket machines are only good for tickets within Switzerland, not for international tickets.
At they manned ticket counter they all speak English (and German, and French). You can also ask which platform to go to.

...I always love the cow sounds and bells ringing as the 'moving picture' ad posters pass by outside the windows. That and the smell of cow poop (not in airport, though) let me know I am home...

We'll be headed to Zurich soon and will be staying for a couple nights near the bahnhoff, so i looked on you-tube. There are many videos showing how to get to town, how to buy train tickets, etc.... it's a great visual and audio source of travel anywhere. I even found other videos postings of some smaller communities that are not typical tourist destinations that have helped us in our planning.
Almost everywhere our R S tour is going I found videos that provided helpful hints or comments.
