hello we are traveling from Domodossola to Locarno via the Scenic Centovalle Railway and then staying in Locarno for a day. We are thinking of getting a train to Lake Lugano spend a day & then to Lake Como 2 days ; Since we have about 4 days thinking better off to go from Locarno direct to Lake Como, skipping Lake Lugaon. Also what train website do you use to get tickets, sbb or trenitalia ? thanks
Either SBB or Trenitalia, but a better question is where on Lake Como are intending to go?
None of the trains on the routes you plan taking require you to buy tickets in advance, so you can just get them at the station.
If you travel from Locarno to Como you will pass through Lugano.
if contemplating alternatives, have you considered Locarno to Stresa or Baveno on Lake Maggiore and across to the Borromean Islands?
Delightful, accessable from Locarno by boat, train or car
Thanks for your reply’s. We actually will be in Lago Maggiore the week before for a wedding. Then will visit Stresa and head to Domodossola from there.
For lake Como stay at south end of lake but boat to varenna and bellagio. We have to head to Milan Friday am to catch a flight back to USA so thinking 2-3 days in Como.
