"Local" SIM for Switzerland, Jersey, France (Paris) and England

I'm going to the above countries for 33 days...Switzerland/Jersey aren’t in the EU.....and some local SIM card only cover the EU for roaming I think? I land in Amsterdam (have a long layover), and then Jersey. Any tips on where to get a SIM? Either from Schiphol or once in Jersey.... Not sure I"m brave enough to get one from eBay.

I got a Labara once that seemed to work in France and England.

Mostly, I need internet, with some possible phone calls for certain situations (I"d use voice over IP ( data) as much as I can.

Many thanks

The Dutch Vodafone prepaid SIM with "You" bundles will work in the EU countries plus in Switzerland with their monthly data bundles. I'm actually not sure you can buy one at Schiphol (maybe?) - I bought mine on eBay. I've used my Dutch Vodafone SIM over the last few years in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Slovenia - never in the Netherlands actually. The calling options for this SIM are poor, though, for calls outside of the Netherlands. But as you say you can use VOIP (Skype) or WhatsApp for local calls, maybe it will be OK. You can give out your Dutch phone number for free incoming calls and texts, though.

Perhaps you can also get one in Jersey that will work in Switzerland not sure.

I'm also assuming the UK will still be covered under EU roaming when you visit - but with Brexit up in the air, that is just an assumption of course...

Thanks, Andrew. So you know if the is specific to The Dutch vodaphone version?

Laura, all of the Vodafone subsidiaries in each country have different rules. Could be the other Vodafone companies in different countries will support the SIM in all of the same countries. The Dutch version is the only one I'm familiar with.

You might find a similar document to this one on the other Vodafone websites that lists the countries covered.

Jersey is not in the EU and for that matter is not in the UK either. So local SIMs do not get free roaming in the EU, and most SIMs from EU providers don't by default give inclusive use in Jersey either. The main exception to this are UK operators who allow free roaming in Jersey. Check carefully if any Dutch operators have done the same.

So helpful! Thanks all! Sounds like it might be best to get to Jersey/Guernsey and find one there?
