Local SIM for mobile phone?

Hi all,
I plan on taking my iPhone 6s (nano sim, unlocked) on a trip that will include Switzerland, France and England. Anyone have advice on purchasing a local Sim that would work in all of these? Or would it be better to buy one for France/England and one for Switzerland. Mostly I’m interested in data versus actual phone calls.

Thank you very much

Hi, LWS,

I just used the Orange Holiday SIM in September. Worked great in cities, remote rural areas and islands, and in the countries you will be visiting, plus many more. Highly recommend. You only need one SIM plan in most of Europe because roaming is free since 2017.

Be sure to enable roaming on your phone so you can connect automatically to the local signal.

Orange Holiday also supports tethering. 10GB data, calls and texts within Europe and also North America...incoming as well. So you can send and receive texts from everyone at home, also call them. Good for 14 days, and you can top up.

If you do buy it in advance on Amazon, be sure to register the sim with Orange on line, at least 2 weeks before you leave. This will eliminate frequent texts from Orange as you approach your 14th day, reminding you to register your sim so you can top up if you need to.

If France is your arrival country into Europe, you can also buy at Orange kiosks at CDG, or at their boutiques in town. Hope this helps!

I also have used Orange Holiday SIM card on my travels and it is very easy to use and works great, even in remote parts of Scotland.

Great info! Thank you! I’ll be using it for 30 days, so I’ll take a peek!

Thanks for your input!

I still recommend the Dutch Vodafone SIM I've used for three years now. You can get one on eBay and it will work in all of those countries. But it's not really a good SIM for calls - just data. I've never even used mine in the Netherlands. You can activate bundles that are good for 30 days.

look at the EE data sim on amazon, It's data only, but you can get a 2GB (30day) for under $20 or 6GB (90day) for under $30.
Works in all those countries, then if you really need a phone number get a skype number for the time you're away!
