Limited time Lausanne or Zermatt

We only have 5 or 6 days and need to prioritize visiting Lucerne, Lauterbrunnen, Zermatt and the Lausanne areas. (They seem to be the most beautiful according to research)

Interested in majestic setting of the area, rural taste of the country and culture and maybe light walking/ hiking.

Any ideas on how to prioritize theses areas based on small timeframe.

6 days is really not that much. U could easily spend 3 nights ea in Lucerne and Lauterbrunnen valley.
I would not rush espec Lauterbrunnen with the amazing beauty there. Skip Zermatt this time only becuz weather can be last minute iffy and it is not so easy to get to. I had to skip Zermatt one trip as the rain storms were there during summer. Fortunately i had time to cancel my lodging . It is quite expensive there and limited lodging so if u decide there book, way in advance.
So Lauterbrunnen, Lucerne (gd place to get over jetlag), Then LAUSSANE IF U REALLY THINK U HAVE time.

4 places in 5 or 6 days? I wouldn't even try. What will you do when the day you picked at one of these locales that are the most beautiful according to research end up up being socked in and rainy? Pick 2 and hope for the best.

Lauterbrunnen should be #1. Easily the most scenic. Given the mountain weather (and the sights to see), plan several days for the Lauterbrunnen area. We were there for 3 days and never had a clear day to take the train up the Jungfrau. Lucerne is a fairly easy train ride from Lauterbrunnen via Interlaken, so it would make a good second choice for a couple of days. Zermatt and Lausanne are too far away reasonably to fit in a 5 or 6 day trip. Where are you arriving in Switzerland? That might make a difference in your choice of locations to visit.

You're describing the Lauterbrunnen area precisely! (Mürren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen, or Gimmelwald--they're all near each other)

Many thanks to all of you. Coming up from Milan so will just start at Lauterbrunnen and may not get past there but have a firm plan now if we do thanks to all of you. Great information!

If you still have flexibility in your travel plans, you can likely stop by Zermatt en route from Milan to Lauterbrunnen. That's what I would try to do.

Base out of Lauterbrunnen and Lucerne, with more time in Lauterbrunnen. If you have poor weather or would otherwise enjoy a change of scenery, consider a day-trip to Bern, Lausanne and Montreux, or Neuchatel.

Perfect! Thanks for the additional suggestions. We are basing out of Como so will play it by ear and see what the weather looks like when we get there.
