Liechtenstein Question (posting to Switzerland because Liechenstein isn't listed :-)

Travel squad, I am traveling over to Liechtenstein for a day and need your sage advice. We will do the little train tour around Vaduz from the City Hall. I realize the Vaduz Castle isn't a tour option because the Prince does not open his doors as the Queen of England does :-) In Balzers there is a castle called Gutenberg Castle. The website says you need to book a tour to get inside (we are going in June 2020). If you don't have a tour booked then you can walk around outside and see the "castle chapel". The problem is I can't figure out who to contact to get an actual tour inside the castle. Has anyone ever been in? Viator and the other operators don't have tours listed inside. The country of Liectenstein "owns" the castle and I see that you can book inside for weddings but I am just hoping for a one hour tour. Any ideas are welcome!

According to the website (in German), a private tour of the castle can be arranged by contacting the Balzers town administration at least 2 weeks in advance. There don't seem to be regular "public" tours, just these private group ones. Based on the tour request form, there are two options: a 75-minute overview tour (150chf for up to 20 people) or a shorter 30-minute tour of the inside (100chf for up to 20 people). If you are still interested but don't read German, you may want to contact the town via the email address listed: info@balzers.li

Info is here http://www.balzers.li/Balzerserleben/Kultur/BurgGutenberg/tabid/230/Default.aspx (the form for requesting a tour is on the right labelled "Besichtigung")

Hope that helps - I haven't been there, so unfortunately can't comment on whether it's worth it or not...

I went there last year. Really pretty.

You can go in inside the castle walls and in the courtyard on select days. Which is what I did. I didn’t go inside the actual structure which I’m not sure you can do without the tour you mention.

The castle is pretty small. Not sure if it’s worth going in. But it’s worth the walk up to it. Great views.

Lonely Planet Switzerland covers Lichtenstein pretty well and it’s what I used when I went there.
