Léman Express - Geneva to Annecy

I am planning a 3-week trip to Switzerland (with a few dips into France and ending with a few days outside of Milan) for September 2020.

I was considering Annecy as a relaxing first stop for a few days after our international flight into Geneva. My initial research indicated that getting straight to Annecy from the airport seemed like a hassle.

My question - am I correct that the new Léman Express will now be a good direct rail option?

I'm guessing that users of this forum haven't tried it out yet due to the French rail strikes, but if anyone can give me any information, I would appreciate it.

As a short added note: I visited Annecy when I was in my 20s - backpacking around Europe for 3 months. Good memories. But, we could also skip Annecy and head straight to Chamonix as alternate plan. I'll be back on this forum later asking for itinerary help.

All I can tell you is that it shows up on the DB rail planner. It runs direct to Annecy every hour from Geneva Cornavin at 47 past the hour, except 11:47, 13:47. At those hours it only goes as far as Annemasse, then a bus from there. Maybe more trains will be added later on this year.

From the airport, you need to change trains at Genève Cornavin, so the Transalis bus to Annecy remains a good direct option. Quite convenient, but subject to traffic delays.

I've taken the Transalis bus between Annecy and Geneva airport several times. A big advantage is that you don't have to change in Geneva. A disadvantage is that there are some significant gaps in the schedule during the day.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the Transalis schedule and also watch for posts about this newest rail option.
