Hi fellow travelers,
Planning to fly from Venice to Zurich and then on to Toronto on one ticket. Time for the connection is 1 hr 50 min. Is this doable? Photo and prints will be done on arrival in Rome so should be on file but will have to do passport control. Hoping someone with experience can offer advice. Thanks, Nancy
Well, I did the exact same thing with the exact same layover time 10 years ago with a group of 49 people and we all made it. Of course, that was before EES, but it I don't expect you will have any problems. We were connecting to Chicago, and since it was to the USA, some of us got selected for extra thorough security inspection
If your flight is on time that should be fine. Keep in mind that the airport is huge and I found signage lacking. It was about a 15 minute walk from security to our gate-it wasn't a connecting flight.
I would not characterize Zurich airport as "huge". Mid size as major international airports go.
All flights to non-Schengen destinations go from the "E" gates, located in a remote terminal connected to the main terminal by an underground train. You go through exit passport control, then board the train that goes every couple of minutes. At the other end you get off and go up escalators to the "E" gates and walk to your gate. So when you get off the plane from Venice, follow the signs to "E" gates.
I was in Zurich last week. EES was a total joke. It took a long time to complete exit immigration. Call your airline to let them know you may miss your flight and see if they can change it for you.
