We have 5-6 hours at the Zurich airport between flights on our way to and from Florence. Any ideas what we could do besides sitting in the airport?
Well the thing is, on the way, if you leave the airport, you may have to go through immigration (assuming you're coming in from the US or somewhere outside Schengen), then you will have to go through security to get back in to catch your next flight. So you may not even have 5-6 hours. If you do have that much time, I'd take the train into town, have lunch, stroll around and buy some postcards, then head back. No point in trying to do much more, IMO.
It is only 12 minutes by train into downtown Zurich, and the station is right in the center of things. You can have a nice walk and look around. I would definitely do it.
We had a 6 hour wait before a flight to Rome.
A very quick trip by train downtown. Spent 2 hours+ there.
Easily doable.
