Lauterrburren alternative parking

I apologize if this has been asked I couldn’t figure out how to search!
We are heading to Lauterburren tomorrow and need three nights/days of parking. I’m unable to reserve a spot at the Lauterburren Parkhaus at the moment so now I’m nervous about finding a place!! Any suggestions or experience with this??
Thanks!

Where are you coming from? You could park elsewhere and take the train to Lauterbrunnen. I assume Muerren or Wengen is your final destination, thus need to find a parking spot in Lauterbrunnen.

Not coming by car is the obvious solution.
(As a inhabitant I do want to see less cars. I wish the valley would go full Zermatt on this).

There are currently dynamic panels along the road showing you where there are still free spaces. Depending on how busy it is you may have to park in Wilderswil or Interlaken. The new P+R at the former Interlaken air base is unfortunately not yet operational.

I agree that not arriving by car seems like a good solution to the problem. Where are you coming from and do you really need a car for the trip?

Amen! It would be delightful to have that serenity! BOB would need extra trains, though…

We are at the end of a 10 day trip (by car) and weren’t planning on bringing all luggage to Wengen but doing a hike the first day from Murren (based on weather and bc we can’t check in yet in Wengen). I know not having a car would be ideal but unfortunately not an easy option for us.

There are plans to increase frequencies to every 15 minutes. And there is a big P+R under construction at the former Interlaken Airbase. But otoh Lauterbrunnen is planning on expanding the car park at the Church, which is a big mistake in my opinion (it should be closed and turned in to a park...)

That is unfortunate. Our formerly sleepy little village is already suffering from too many daytrippers.

While I can’t guarantee anything, I can share my experience. We reserved parking at the big garage behind the train station for 5 nights in late June. The night before arrival, I was checking the website for directions and noticed that they were not accepting reservations. I thought it would be packed. But there were over 300 spaces available when we arrived, according to the sign. Maybe they only reserve a certain portion of the garage and leave some spaces available for first-come-first-serve? When we left there were plenty of spaces.

There were also spaces available at the church, which surprised me. Stechelberg is another option, you’d just have to bring your luggage on the bus.

I was also nervous when I drove to that parking facility without reservations. There were plenty of available spots. If it's full ask around for alternatives. You could always double back toward Interlaken and try to find parking at the transit stops along the route.
