Lauterbrunnen Valley / Jungfrau Region - Hotels Near Train Stations

We are considering for February 2027 taking a train trip starting in Lyon, France, then through the Swiss Alps. Through recommendations, The Lauterbrunnen/Berner Oberland/Murren/Wengen area could be a destination for us.

But that time of year--and we don't ski--I'd like to find a good hotel (and nearby restaurants) as close to the train station as possible, preferably across the street. Being that time of year, if there's a snowstorm I wouldn't have very far to trudge!

Anybody have some experience with that kind of setup? Have only been to Lucerne, and found a great hotel basically a half-block away. Thanks!

Maya Caprice hotel in Wengen. A 1-2 minute walk to the train station, grocery store and main street of town.

Another good option in Wengen is Hotel Silberhorn, right across from the train station. Do eat at Maya Capeice even if you do not stay there. Note, dinner reservations anywhere will be necessary as ski season is beyond busy!

We always drive, but a couple years ago we did stay at the Hotel Steinbock in Lauterbrunnen and we liked it. It is a nice basic middle of the road hotel with nice rooms and pretty good restaurant that is very close to the train station. The other thing you might want to do is decide which towns you want to go to and the go to Booking.com and look for hotels near the train station.

Lauterbrunnen is a good place to stay since it is basically the travel hub if you want to go to Merren, Wengen, Grindlewald, Interlaken or the Jungfraujoc.

Well, that's what I'm thinking. Base in Lauterbrunnen, take side trips. My only Swiss experiences to date have been Lucerne for 3 nights with a change from Paris at Basel.

We'll eventually have to get down into Italy to Torino (Bra), but first things first. Thanks!

I like to stay at the Hotel Oberland in Lauterbrunnen as it's within walking distance to the rail station and to the BLM cable car that goes up to Mürren. The hotel has a nice restaurant on site. Lauterbrunnen is the transportation hub for the area, so it's easy to get to both sides of the valley from there.

As mentioned above, at that time of year be sure to reserve well in advance, and pack along some winter clothing.

We just returned from a Rick Steves Alpine My Way tour and stayed at a wonderful hotel in Lauterbrunne, Hotel Staubbach. Although a bit dated, the management is just outstanding and the provide a wonderful "picnic" area where you can use the fridge and warm food and it in booths to eat. The place is near the others mentioned.
