Lauterbrunnen in December? Is a day trip possible from Italy? Help!

My family and I are planning a couple of weeks in Italy but want to do a day trip to Lauterbrunnen. Is this even possible in early December? Are the trains running during winter?
Thanks for any advice! Kim

That is how the skiers get to the slopes. Nonetheless, a daytrip from Italy to Lauterbrunnen does not seem very practical. Considering that by day trip you will be returning to Italy in the evening. Where are you coming from in Italy? It is 3 3/4 hours from Milan if you get the 7 am EC train, so you would not get there until 11 am and you would have to leave at 6 pm (after dark) to get back by 9:45 pm.

Lauterbrunnen in early December is probably going to disappoint you. Do not expect it to look anything like the Instagram pictures. It is going to be gloomy, and to early to reliably have snow on the ground. I wouldn't bother.
