Laussane to Gruyere without chocolate train ?

Hi Friends,

We want to spend a day in Gruyere. We will be travelling from Laussane.
I checked the Chocolate Train and there seem to be no booking available in July.

Three questions

  1. How do I get to Gruyere and back to Laussane without using the Chocolate Train ?

  2. Is there any advantage to get the chocolate train if I have Swiss pass to go to Gruyere ?

  3. is there any other way to book a ticket on Chocolate Train other than the website ?

Thanks
Dharmesh

You can easily do this by train in just over an hour with one or two connections depending on what time of day you go. Go to their Website and put in the information with your dates and other information to see how to get there. The Swiss rail system is great!

I looked on the SBB website and there are two routes from Lausanne to Gruyéres (both are $30/each way or $15 with a 1/2 fare card):

  1. Through Montreux
  2. Through Bulle (with 15 min side trip to Broc to see the Callier Chocolate factory)

You could do a loop trip and see different sites going up and coming back. =)

Since the Chocolate Train excursion costs 49-59 CHF per person in addition to the Swiss Pass, I would prefer the "adventure" of using regular transport between those sites.
