Lausanne to Wengen train tickets

My husband and I will be traveling from Lausanne to Wengen on September 28, 2024. I am looking at booking tickets now and would like some feedback. We want to take the Golden Pass Express from Montreux to Interlaken Ost. It looks like the 12:34pm would work for us, getting us to Int. Ost. at 3:50pm. I plan on booking the GPE tickets today or tomorrow.

Should I go ahead and book tickets ahead from Lausanne to Montreux and Int. Ost. to Wengen? Or, can those be done the day of?

Since the Golden Pass goes into Int. Ost. train station, I am assuming we don't need a whole lot of in between time to connect with a train to Wengen. Is that accurate?

Thanks for your help!

You can buy a ticket from Lausanne to Wengen in one shot. Buy it specifying via Zweisimmen to get routed on the GPX train.

You do not need separate tickets for each train. You need just one ticket: Lausanne - Wengen, via Montreux and Zweisimmen. And buying that ticket on the day of travel itself is not problem. In fact, doing so at the ticket office may prevent you from getting the wrong ticket, as www.sbb.ch will by default route you via the fastest route, which does not involve the Golden Pass.

For the GPX you may get reservations, but these are not compulsory. If you want a reservation get that on the GPX website. But then just follow the procedure for just getting a reservation. That you may want to do now.

If you split tickets you end up paying more, as the ticket prices are distance based, but the rate is degressive.
