Latest Transporation Conditions in Jungfrau Region Due to Rains/Floods Etc.

We will be heading to Jungfrau next week. Does anyone have an update on any travel impacts due to recent inclement weather? We noticed Lauterbrunnen was hit pretty hard awhile back. Any updates would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Lauterbrunnen is absolutely fine.

If you are planning on traveling between Brienz and Interlaken you will take the bus instead of the train.

Yes, absolutely.

I think information online can sometimes get misrepresented. For example, another poster shared a link where someone had written “platforms in chaos, many plans disrupted, reservations lost…” in a way that suggested this was happening in Lauterbrunnen. In reality, Lauterbrunnen experienced no significant damage, and certainly nothing that would have caused plans to be dashed or reservations to be lost. The rail line there remained open the entire time.

When you catch the train in Interlaken Ost, you’ll notice two trains are connected together. If you’re heading to Lauterbrunnen (or Mürren or Wengen), board the front train. If your destination is Grindelwald, get in the rear train. At Zweilütschinen, the two trains separate, each continuing up a different valley to its final destination.

It was the Zweilütschinen-Grindelwald line that received some damage and was closed briefly. Replacement busses were quickly running and the train itself was restored within a few days.
